Jillan Cantor Sackett, MD. MS.
I majored in Psychology and minored in Women's Studies at Brandeis University. After graduating cum laude (1998), I interned for a year at Shands Hospital in an adolescent inpatient psychiatry unit for kids experiencing medically uncontrolled Diabetes Mellitus Type 1. I then went to The University of Pennsylvania where I received my Masters in Science (2000) for education for grades kindergarten through 12. I spent three years teaching science to elementary and middle school students both inside and outside the classroom. During this time I decided to become a medical doctor. I completed my medical school training (2007) and Adult Psychiatry Residency (2010) at Jefferson University Hospital and my Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship (2012) at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I then worked in the Philadelphia juvenile justice system and led the didactics program for Jefferson University Hospital's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. I have spent the last ten years working with people of all ages in an outpatient psychiatry clinic. Though I see all people, I specialize in women's and young adult's mental health.

More about me
I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and have lived in a few different states on the east coast. My husband, three kids, and I moved to Vermont in 2021 because we wanted to be grounded in more nature and outside activities. I love to hike with my three dogs, ski, run, listen to music, and learn. I try to meditate daily because I find it helpful in many ways.
A few thoughts
I do not think medication is a magic bullet. And if you want to work with me, you are going to have to actually do some work, not just rely on meds. I do not want you to simply feel better, I want you to be present to all you feel. It is not easy work, but it's the ghosts we do not face that we spend our lives running from and tripping over.
